Season Finale

Gloucester NarrowboatsThe Season has finally finished and now we have the time to update our blog.

An awful lot has happened this year in that we have bought Glevum Boats from Slimbridge, so that makes us the sole operator on the Gloucester-Sharpness Canal.

This has been a fantastic year and all our handover staff are now qualified RYA instructors, meaning that when you hire a narrowboat from us you can be sure that the tuition and instruction is of the highest standard.

A big thank-you must go out to all our customers, not only for their kind words at the end of their day but also to all of those who took the time and trouble to post a review on TripAdvisor. We are indeed proud of the fact that we are still the number 1 outdoor activity in Gloucester – a position we will strive to maintain for next year.

The boats have been laid up for the winter and the team are taking a well earned break. We have a schedule of winter maintenance to be carried out on Badger and Otter to get them into first class condition ready for the new season, beginning March 1st 2017.

These are exiting times for Gloucester Narrowboats as we have two new boats starting next year, the first being Glevum – a 32 foot purpose built trip boat that will be offering 45 minute trips up and down the Gloucester – Sharpness canal. We have just commissioned a new boat called Ratty, to be built by R W Davis at Saul Junction, one of if not the best, canalside boatbuilders and repair yards in the country. This boat will be 45 feet long and will be available for up to 4 people to hire for 3 and 4 night relaxing holidays along the Gloucester – Sharpness Canal. The boat will be available to hire from April 2017 and you can book it, online, from January 2017. Watch the website for major updates in January.

Once again a big thank-you to all our customers – past and present and we look forward to what we are confident will be another successful year for Gloucester Narrowboats.
